Sally Hansen - Gilty Pleasure

Here's another pedicure picture. This is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Gilty Pleasure. It's a nice antiqued gold metallic that looks like your nails got dipped in gold! I've only worn this on my fingers once because I like it much better as a pedicure polish.

MakeupAlley Fun and New Readers

So I joined MUA a little while ago and I've really been enjoying the site. It's fun to read the different boards but my favorite thing to do is swap! You list your items, then people contact you with items to exchange. It's a really great way to get rid of products you don't use or don't like and get ones that you want. I just listed a whole bunch of things on there, you can find me on there as sqrrlgrl. You'll need to make an account but it's well worth it in my opinion. The site is http://www.makeupalley.com.

I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who's been reading, following, and subscribing to my RSS feed. Apparently I have 40 people who follow me through the RSS feed.. WOW! I never would have expected it. Thanks so much, everyone. And remember to follow me through Google Friend Connect if you can, once I have 50 followers on there I'll have my very first giveaway!

Sinful Colors - Last Chance

I'm back! Today's swatch is a new color from Sinful Colors called Last Chance. Sinful doesn't seem to come out with new colors too often so it's exciting when they do. This is a great example of their polish. It's a beautiful deep hunter green that could honestly go on in one coat if you were very careful. I was surprised at how pigmented it was. If you like greens I'd highly recommend this color. I'm happy to have this because a lot of deep dark greens are so dark that they become black, like OPI's Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow or the famous NARS Zulu. This is dark but still definitely green.

Essie - Topless & Barefoot

Hello everyone! Today I have another current polish for you, this time a new release from Essie. It's called Topless & Barefoot. Essie was recently purchased by, I think, L'Oreal and so their distribution has widened to Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and other big chain stores. I picked this up at my local Walgreens. It's a nice beige that has a hint of pink in it to keep it from clashing with my skin. Many other beige colors are slightly yellow or brown and look gross on my nails. My only complaint with this polish is the formula. It's what I'd call a jelly-creme, meaning it has properties of both jelly and creme polishes. It's shiny like a jelly and has the pigmentation of a creme, which is good but can have its downsides. Some jelly-creme polishes, like this one, can go on a little streaky but then even out and settle down. They can also cling to the nail and show off ridges. Overall I'd say it's a nice enough shade if you can overlook those things. If you want to learn more about nail polish finishes, click here for a great reference.

Zoya - Dannii

Hello all! I've got a nice, current swatch for you today. Dannii is a polish from Zoya's recently released spring collection called Intimate. I got the whole collection and decided to start with this pretty, sparkly purple. It went on great in 3 coats, but if you were more careful you could do two. The shimmer is a mixture of pink and a sort of champagne or beige, it really gives Dannii depth.

Finger Paints - Sketch N Etch

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I hope that whether you're genuinely Irish or just pretending for today that you have a great day. I have a lovely green for you, of course. This is Finger Paints Sketch N Etch. It's a yellow-based green with great shimmer and glow. It's a cousin to Nicole by OPI's Fell From The Tree that I posted a while back in that both are beautiful semi-deep greens, but Sketch N Etch is yellow-based and FFTT is blue-based. Different but beautiful. :)

I'm sure you've noticed that my nails are much shorter! I had a small chip the other day that forced me to trim them all down to match, but I'm sure they'll be long again soon enough.

Glitter glitter glitter!

I LOVE glitter polishes. I really do. But they're such a pain to remove that I only rarely wear them on my fingers. My solution is to use glitter polishes for my pedicures instead! Since glitter wears like iron, it means I hardly ever have to do my toes. So since I didn't hear any objection to posting pedi pics, here's my current toes. This was done with the Color Club Glitter Vixen collection. Colors are as follows: Tru Passion (purple), Sexy Siren (blue),  Object of Envy (green), Art of Seduction (red), and Sex Symbol (silver). Application on these was pretty good, they're clear bases that are jammed with glitter so it only took me 2-3 coats to get what you see here. Click to enlarge.

Bejeweled

This is somewhat of a swatch, but more like me playing around. I've been thinking about ruffian/moon/reverse French manicures a lot lately (more info here) and decided to do one with my existing Zoya Happi manicure. To do this, I placed adhesive French tip guides on my nails to give the black a nice clean line. Then I added my first coat of Zoya Raven, a beautiful inky black with subtle silver shimmer. It's very important to remove the tip guide immediately after painting this first coat. If you remove it when it's dry, it can ruin the polish! After that dried, I carefully painted on a second coat of Raven and I was done!. But that wasn't enough, oh no.. I had these Cina nail art decals (available at Sally Beauty) that are essentially rhinestones on a sticky back. I stuck them along the black line, smothered the whole nail in top coat to help the decals stay on longer, and presto! They're kind of edgy princess nails, I think.

Toe be or not toe be?

I couldn't resist the title, sorry. :) I wanted to know if, with sandal season coming up, anyone would object to me posting pedicure pictures? I ask only because I know some people are very grossed out by toes and feet. Let me know your thoughts!

Zoya - Happi

Hello there! I have another fun polish for you today. I noticed I've been leaning towards these iridescent colors lately, they're so pretty and fun. Zoya Happi is a light sort of blush pink with an amazing yellow-gold iridescence to it. It really just flashes and glimmers in the sun. The effect almost reminds me of mother of pearl or a pretty beetle wing. Even in low light you can see the yellow sheen on the pink, it's really very pretty. This is 4 thin coats. I could likely have done 3 and been okay but I hate having my nail line visible, even a tiny bit!

I also want to say hello to all my new followers! Thank you so much for joining my little blog. I'm hoping to have a giveaway when I hit 50 followers. Please don't hesitate to comment or email me, I'd love to hear from you.

Color Club - Tangerine Scream

Hello there! Finally back with another swatch for you. This is Color Club's Tangerine Scream, released as part of their Summer 2009 Electro Candy collection. I have the whole set, so expect to see them all here sooner or later. This is a great color with a really cool blue-white shimmer that kinda shows up here. It's like most neons, kinda sheer, so I think this was 3 or 4 coats. Worth it though. Oh, and my pinky nail is stubby because I had a little break on Friday.. Sad, but at least I didn't lose the whole nail!

Zoya Get Your Green On Promo

Hey! I'm hoping to have a new swatch up tomorrow, sorry for the silence. Busy busy week. Anyways, wanted to let you know about Zoya's Get Your Green On promo, running until March 7th. I HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of this if you like greens, I own both Ivanka (the glittery green) and Suvi (the blackened emerald green) and can't praise them highly enough. A note: Zoya always gets slammed with orders during their promotions and it may take your order quite a while to be shipped, but I think the savings are worth it. :) Click here for the promo item page. Add it to your cart and you're good to go! This offer doesn't include free shipping but it's still a good deal.

UPDATE: According to Zoya, this promotion is now sold out!
